Background Noise

Personal Attributes Valued by Employers
Personal Attribute | Importance to Employers |

| Organisational Skills | Organisational skill is the ability and method relating to planning your work to meet deadlines and targets. In a company in which time is so valuable, organisational skills are important for the employee. Lots of companies set some targets for you to meet and to be able to meet the target you need to set out a plan for your work. Spend your time wisely and make sure no time will be wasted. You will also need to manage which resources you are going to use. |
| Teamwork | Team work is essential if you are working with another employee. Most employers look for employees who can be effective at all times especially when working on a team because today almost everyone in the company works on team. It is hard to work on a team, if an employee fails his/her task it can result in trouble to the whole group. |

| Creativity | Being creative means you can produce/think of something new and useful. A creative employee would be seen as an extremely positive characteristic as it would enable new and fresh ideas to share to the company. Company would be looking for new ideas for them to improve and they want their workers to share their ideas to the company. Being creative at work which means you are thinking of way to make you more effective would also benefit the company. |
| Independent | Employers may want someone who is not totally dependent to others and doesn’t need to be told to do next and other obvious work. However employer will not want a new employee to act without consulting the senior group of staff. |
Job Specific | |
| Good knowledge of health and safety | Employers will want someone who has knowledge of health and safety at work. If the employee has knowledge on health and safety they will not cause any health and safety issues and will most unlikely breach the health and safety policy of the company. If they breach the policy they may have broken the law under the health and safety. Employers will be in charge of their employee if this happens. |
| Good technical knowledge | If the employee has a good technical knowledge they will be more effective and independent because they know what they are doing and what needs to be done on the specific job. |
| Good knowledge of computer security | The same as the health and safety they need to know about computer security against data theft. There is also legislation for data theft. Employers would also want their employee to maintain the computer system they are using. |
